Pan Am payouts

There are reports that the head of the 2015 Pan-Am games has a big bonus waiting for him, if he sticks to the planned budget.
The Toronto Star says the game’s CEO Ian Troop will make an extra $780,000 if the budget is met. Troop reportedly makes a base salary of $390,000 to run the games. 63 other employees are also said to be promised bonuses if the games come in under $1.44 billion. The Star says Troop would split $7 million with the others, although the bonuses vary between positions. Tourism Minister Michael Chan has responded, saying: “I understand a third-party human resources firm was retained by TO2015 to provide recommendations and expertise surrounding the salaries and compensation structure. The structure adopted by TO2015 is comparable to similar multi-sport event organizations and was approved by the multi-party Board of which the province has three of twelve representatives. The Completion Incentive Plan is performance-based. In order to receive the incentive, executives must achieve capital and operational targets. The executive team has delivered a capital campaign that is on-time and on- or under-budget and we fully expect this to continue with the operational planning.”
