Pair from Oakville arrested for trafficking victim from Winnipeg

A man and a woman from Oakville were arrested this week for their involvement in a human-trafficking investigation where a woman was brought to the Peel Region from Winnipeg.
Peel police began their investigation in August 2022 after a victim in Winnipeg told police about being taken to the Peel Region against her will.

Police said the victim was convinced to come to Peel as an escort, but was allegedly exploited once she was away from her home. The pair of accused reportedly controlled aspects of the victim’s life and profited financially.
Christopher Warren Williams, 39, of Oakville was arrested and charged on Wednesday, and Ayusha Pandey, 23, of Oakville turned herself in yesterday and was also arrested.

Both the accused are charged with procuring, human trafficking, receiving material benefit, deriving material benefit, exercising control and advertising sexual services.
