Overnight standoff in Brantford leads to alleged shooter arrest

Hamilton police and Brantford police were involved in an overnight standoff that lead to the arrest of Jamie Dryden.

Dryden was identified as to have allegedly shot at Hamilton police shortly before 10 p.m. on January 31st in area of Barton St. and Ottawa St. North.

Brantford’s Brier Park public school, and Resurrection school were in a hold and secure for a short time yesterday afternoon as police were investigating the area. Roads in the area remained closed until around 11:00 a.m. this morning.

Dryden had been described as “armed and dangerous” and police had a warrant for his arrest. Police say the he pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the officers. As police caught up with him, Dryden allegedly grabbed a woman and positioned her between himself and police to avoid being captured.
