Overnight fire at Wasteco plant in Hamilton

CHCH News learned that the garbage transfer station that burned last night in Stoney Creek has a history of fires. In fact, there has been six fires there in the last eight years.
The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a fire at the Wasteco plant on Lake Ave. N. shortly after midnight Thursday morning. When they arrived, flames and heavy smoke was visible. The fire was knocked down, but crews remained on scene throughout the overnight into the morning to douse hotspots.
Claudio Mostacci with the Hamilton Fire Department, says no one was injured in the blaze.
The fire is beleived to have started in a garbage pile within the facility.
