Over 16K Dunnville residents frustrated after day-long power outage

It was a frustrating start to the weekend for people in the Dunnville area.

The town and areas around it were hit by a power outage on Saturday that lasted most of the day.

The outage went on even as Hydro One said it was fixing the problem.

A downed hydro line cut off electricity to the town and surrounding areas for much of the day on Saturday.

The outage meant a day of lost business for restaurants and stores.

Hydro One said the outage started when a power line went down in a remote field just after 1 a.m. Saturday, and grew from there as crews tried to repair the line.

The power was back on by 9 p.m. Saturday, but on Sunday, Hydro One was still trying to determine what caused the outage in the first place.
