Outdoor winter activities available in the City of Hamilton

The City of Hamilton is encouraging residents to stay active this winter season by offering a variety of outdoor activities like ice skating, winter golf, tobogganing and snowshoeing.
Anyone is welcome to free drop-in skating at Serafini Family Ice Pad at Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre, Dundas Driving Park, Freelton Community Park, and Waterdown Memorial Park. These rinks are maintained by city recreation staff and are open daily until 10 p.m.
Dedicated community members will start building additional skating rinks in city parks starting on December 12 which will be operated by volunteers and open until 11 p.m. daily.
Anyone looking to learn more ice skating skills can participate in drop-in skating programs offered at various arenas across the city. See the City of Hamilton’s website for more information.

And if skating isn’t your thing, permitted tobogganing hills are open to the public at Chedoke Golf Club, Dundas Driving Park, Garth and Stone Church Reservoir, King’s Forest Golf Course, and Waterdown Memorial Park.
Residents can also explore a scene 2.5 km winter walking trail at King’s Forest Golf Club, with Nordic walking poles and snowshoes available from the club on a first-come first-serve basis.
Golf fans can even continue playing through the winter months on Chedoke Golf Club’s Martin Course, weather-dependent. For winter golf tee time bookings, call 905-521-3970.
“From the simple joy of ice skating under the starry night to the thrill of winter golf and disc golf, Hamilton’s winter offerings have something for everyone,” Mayor Andrea Horwath said.
