Ottawa’s Rideau Canal Skateway closed again only 4 days after opening

The Rideau Canal Skateway in Ottawa is closed until further notice, only four days after a section of it was opened for the first time this season.
On the National Capital Commission’s website, it says the closure is only temporary and doing so will help preserve the ice and limit damage as warmer temperatures are forecasted.
At a length of 7.8 kilometers, the Rideau Canal Skateway is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as a signature winter destination in the nation’s capital.

The skateway remained closed all of last winter for the first time in its history due to mild weather.
The National Capital Commission says the skateway will reportedly open again once the ice conditions are safe and weather permits.
