Ottawa says yes to more homes for Attawapiskat

The federal government says it will comply with a request from the Attawapiskat First Nation for 22 modular homes.


Ottawa says it has purchased seven additional units, on top of the 15 that were previously promised.

The government also says wood stoves, composting toilets, plastic sheeting and other supplies were flown into the isolated community on Saturday.

The reserve’s Chief Theresa Spence has also given the green light to renovate a healing centre to temporarily house residents.
