Local organizations share ways to help those affected by the war

Many organizations in our area and across Canada have been coming up with ways to assist those affected by the war in Ukraine.
After getting so much last week the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hamilton had to stop taking donations for a few days. They received boxes and boxes of supplies, like clothes, medical equipment, and blankets. The church says they’ll start taking physical donations again soon and in the meantime, you can still donate to their Go-Fund-Me page.
Some other organizations like St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Oakville say they’ve completely shifted to financial contributions after getting overwhelmed. The church says currency is simple and it could be used in a variety of ways for the immediate practical needs which are changing almost on a daily basis. You can donate money to the church, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and the Red Cross.
The World Food Program is also collecting financial donations.
For those who want to open up their homes to Ukrainian refugees, they can visit the Ukrainian Canadian Congress website and fill out an application.
