OPP warn ATV, motorcycle riders
A heads up if you’re heading out this long weekend on an ATV or motorcycle ride.
The OPP say off-road vehicle deaths have reached a four-year high. And since alcohol is often to blame for these crashes, they’re concerned about what might happen this weekend.
Twenty people died last year in off-roading accidents — that’s up 60 per cent from the year before. Nine were linked to alcohol consumption, and 13 were linked to a lack of helmet use.
Police say motorcycle crashes are also up, with 28 in 2013 compared to 26 the year before.
