The Ontario Provincial Police have recorded a five-year high in seat belt charges during their Easter Long Weekend Seat Belt Campaign.

The OPP laid 1,524 charges despite their multiple warnings and high visibility throughout the weekend.

With 10 seat-belt related deaths on OPP-patrolled roads so far this year, police are reminding drivers and passengers to buckle up.

Police say those not willing to buckle up are continuing to risk their lives on the road.
