The OPP are launching their ‘move over’ campaign, reinforcing the importance of slowing down and moving over when approaching a parked emergency vehicle.

The husband and daughter of OPP sergeant Margaret Eve, who died from a roadside collision while on duty, spoke for the first time this morning.

Colleen Eve: “If that transport truck had slowed down, and moved over, my mom would have been here to watch her son and daughter grow up.”

John Eve: “I had to do the hardest thing I’ve had to do in my life, I would not wish this on anyone. I had to tell a three year old girl, and a six year old young man that mom would not be coming home anymore.”

OPP constable Dan Pyrah: “Please, if you see a stopped vehicle, lights flashing or not, move over, give us a chance to go to our families.”

The campaign kicks off this weekend.
