Provincial police have been called in to investigate spending at Ontario’s air ambulance service.

The auditor general and finance ministry have been going over ORNGE’s books, and what they found has led the Ministry of Health to get the police involved.

Health Minister Deb Matthews ejected several ORNGE executives last month over ethical concerns and high salaries, including $1.4 million for former CEO Chris Mazza.

ORNGE received $140 million a year to operate Ontario’s air ambulances.
