OPP investigating attack on Parliament Hill

The RCMP has asked the OPP to lead an independent investigation into Wednesday’s attack on Parliament Hill.

The Toronto Star reports that sources close to the case say the RCMP is seeking an independent third party investigation inside and outside of Parliament.

Several RCMP officers were involved in stopping the gunman.

Mounties as well as parliament security staff took part in the dramatic chase through centre block before bringing down gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau.

A security review has already been ordered by commons speaker Andrew Scheer.
