OPP begin safety blitz

It’s going to be a busy Victoria Day weekend for the Ontario Provincial Police. They have now started a safety blitz on the highways and the water.
“Drinking and riding simply doesn’t mix and speeding obviously doesn’t either. When you’re on a bike you’re vulnerable. If you get into an incident the chances of getting hurt or being fatally killed is a huge factor here,” said Sgt. Lise Grenier of the OPP.
The OPP are taking part in Canada Road Safety Week which runs until the end of the long weekend. During the campaign, the OPP and its policing partners are focusing their education and enforcement efforts on the “Big Four” driving behaviours: impaired driving, not wearing seat belts, distracted driving and aggressive driving.
