OPP assists Six Nations Police in shooting investigation

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is joining Six Nations Police in their investigation into a shooting that sent one person to hospital last week.

Police were called to a home on Mohawk Rd. on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory on Sept. 2.

Officers found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been made.

Six Nations Police believe this was a targeted incident and there is “no danger to the public.”

OPP says members of the West Region Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), will be assisting Six Nations Police Service with the firearms investigation.
