OPP arrest man who barricaded himself inside Hagersville residence for several hours

A person has been taken into custody following an eight hour standoff in Hagersville.

Officers from the Haldimand OPP detachment say they were first called out to the home on Main Street for a family dispute around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The situation escalated and the person barricaded themselves inside the home.

Police took to social media around 2:40 a.m. to advise the public of their increased presence of officers on Main Street and King Street.

The standoff lasted until the next morning, when officers from the provincial police forces emergency response team were able to execute a search warrant and take the man into custody.

No one was injured.

A 47-year-old from Hagersville is facing two charges of assault and one count of mischief.

Police say the accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to attend a court hearing later today.
