Ontario tops for water
The environmental group “Eco Justice” calls our province the best in the country when it comes to protecting drinking water.
In fact, Ontario received the highest grade, an “A”, but it’s not all good news.
The same group is giving the federal government an “F”, saying Ottawa is lagging in water protection and is reluctant to create “rigorous national drinking water standards” that protect all Canadians.
When it comes to the national picture, the worst grades are in the west and north.
B.C. scored a C+ and Alberta received a C-.
The Yukon ended up with a D+ and Nunavut a D.
In fact, Ontario was the only province to earn an “A”.
Nova Scotia wasn’t far behind with an “A-“.
Both provinces scored well in treatment, testing and water protection programs.
