Ontario cabbie union tops one thousand

The ontario taxi workers union says it now has more than one-thousand members, making it the largest cabbie union in ontario.
The union has gained more than 500 new members from Bue line in Hamilton, in a vote result announced last night.

The union claims Blue Line blocked the drivers’ efforts to organize, even firing drivers who supported the union.
The drivers say the next step will be to try to negotiate a contract with blue line.
Earlier this week the Ontario Labour Relations board swept aside the final objections of Hamilton cab’s owners and allowed the union to be certified there.
