Ontario is reporting 10,436 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and three deaths related to the virus.

It is the highest tally of cases reported in a single day since the pandemic was declared in Ontario.

The data is based on 59,259 tests completed on the previous day.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 726 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 190 patients in intensive care.

The province says a total of more than 26.8 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Elliott says 90.7 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and 88.1 per cent have two doses.

At least 47 of the province’s 626 long-term care homes currently have a COVID-19 outbreak declared at the facility including Shalom Manor Long Term Care Home in Grimsby.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
