Ontario reports 998 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths

Ontario is reporting 998 new cases of COVID-19 and 13 deaths.

Thursday’s figures come as the province completed 35,754 tests.

Another 948 cases have been marked as resolved.

Close to 86 per cent of the province’s total number of COVID-19 cases are resolved.

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 5 new cases, 26 active cases

Brant: 3 new cases, 66 active cases, 4 in hospital

Niagara: 15 new cases, 202 active cases, 4 in hospital

Halton: 40 new cases, 329 active cases, 10 in hospital

Hamilton: 36 new cases, 238 active cases, 3 new deaths, 6 in hospital

Hamilton has declared 15 outbreaks in the city, the largest is at the Chartwell Willowgrove long-term care home, which has a total of 46 cases.

There are 381 people in hospital with COVID-19. There are 86 in ICU, while 48 of those are on ventilators.

The death toll for the province is 3,195 with over 2,000 of those deaths in residents of long-term care homes.

Another 68 cases were reported in the province’s schools.
