Ontario reports 948 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths

Ontario is reporting 948 new cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths.

The province completed just 27,908 tests, putting the positivity rate at about 3.4 per cent.

The death toll is now 3,152 with nearly two-thirds of those deaths reported in residents of long-term care homes.

Another 826 cases of COVID-19 were marked as resolved. The percentage of overall cases that are resolved is 85.5 per cent.

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

HaldimandNorfolk: 2 new cases, 26 active cases

Brant: 4 new cases, 59 active cases, 4 in hospital

Halton: 53 new cases, 247 active cases, 1 new death, 5 in hospital

Niagara: 20 new cases, 164 active cases, 3 new deaths, 4 in hospital

Hamilton: 43 new cases, 198 active cases, 4 in hospital

Meanwhile, COVID-19 outbreaks have been declared at the Hamilton Continuing Care, Shalom Villiage and Baywood Place long-term care homes over the weekend.

There are eight other COVID-19 outbreaks in the city, including at Lululemon Athletica at Limeridge Mall, the Service Ontario Centre on Dundurn St. and Castelli Cucina Restaurant.

Hospitalizations across the province are at 328, however about 40 hospitals did not submit their data over the weekend.

There are 75 patients in intensive care, while 45 of those are on ventilators.

The province also reported 71 new COVID-19 cases related to schools.
