Ontario reports 826 new COVID-19 cases, nine new deaths

Ontario is reporting 826 new cases of COVID-19 and nine new deaths.

This is the third day in a row the province reported nine deaths, putting the death toll at 3,080.

The COVID-19 hotspots remain Toronto, Peel, Ottawa and York region.

Ontario is reporting 826 cases of #COVID19 as over 40,000 tests were completed. Locally, there are 292 new cases in Toronto, 186 in Peel, 87 in Ottawa and 72 in York Region. There are 733 more resolved cases.

The government moved Toronto, Peel and Ottawa into a modified Stage 2 two weeks ago.

The same restrictions were put in place in York region on Oct. 19.

The province completed 40,019 tests with another 35,436 still pending.

Another 733 cases were added to the resolved tally, according to numbers released Friday.

There are 6,474 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.

There are 276 people in hospital with the virus. Of those, 78 are in intensive care and 47 of those are on ventilators.

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 4 new cases, 14 active cases

Brant: 0 new cases, 16 active cases

Niagara: 7 new cases, 88 active cases, 4 in hospital

Halton: 16 new cases, 222 active cases, 9 in hospital

Hamilton: 15 new cases, 154 active cases, 4 in hospital

There are now 54 primary cases of COVID-19 connected to SpinCo.

There are also new outbreaks at the Restoration Full Gospel Church where three cases were reported.

Wentworth Lodge and Chartwell Willowgrove LTC each reported one staff case.

Public health also reported an outbreak with a Hamilton-based basketball club where four cases were reported.

Another 72 cases were reported in the province’s schools.
