Ontario reports 783 new COVID-19 cases, five new deaths

Ontario is reporting 783 new cases of COVID-19 and five new deaths.
Toronto, Peel and York Region lead the province in new cases, according to Minister of Health Christine Elliott.
Ontario is reporting 783 cases of #COVID19 as nearly 40,000 tests were completed. Locally, there are 239 new cases in Toronto, 136 new cases in Peel, 127 in York Region and 89 in Ottawa. There are 779 more resolved cases.

The number of resolved cases is close behind at 779.
Five more people have been added to the death toll, which now sits at 3,022.
There are 5,883 active cases of COVID-19.
Nearly 40,000 tests were completed, while the backlog of tests sits at 36,314.
Hospitalizations are up, with 253 patients in hospital. Of those 62 are in ICU and 31 of those are on ventilators.

Halton: 45 new cases, 223 active cases, 1 new death, 5 in hospital
Hamilton: 30 new cases, 196 active cases, 4 in hospital
Niagara: 7 new cases, 85 active cases, 4 in hospital
Haldimand-Norfolk: 1 new case, 9 active cases
Brant: 2 new cases, 10 active cases
Six Nations of the Grand River: 5 new cases, 23 active cases

An outbreak has also been declared at Radius restaurant in Hamilton, where three staff have tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, another 109 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in schools.
