Ontario reports 656 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday

Ontario is reporting 656 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday.
The province reported 13 more deaths related to the virus. The Ministry of Health says five of the deaths occurred over the past seven days but the remaining eight occurred more than a week ago.
The data is based on more than 27,572 tests completed on the previous day.
The province says 34,703 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the last 24-hour period for a total of more than 20.7 million.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says nearly 83.1 per cent of Ontarians 12 and older have received at least one dose and 76.4 per cent have received both shots.
There are currently 163 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 96 on ventilators.
The province says of those in hospital, 246 are unvaccinated individuals, 20 are partially vaccinated and 48 are fully vaccinated.
Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least six are in an outbreak including Clarion Nursing Home in Stoney Creek and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.
An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
