Ontario reports 625 new COVID-19 cases, four new deaths

Ontario is reporting 625 new cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths.

About 46 per cent of the new cases were reported in Toronto, according to numbers released by the province.

Ontario is reporting 625 cases of #COVID19 as nearly 35,800 tests were completed. Locally, there are 288 new cases in Toronto with 97 in Peel, 64 in Ottawa and 41 in York Region. 62% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40. There are 457 more resolved cases today.

Another 457 cases have been marked as resolved and the death toll now sits at 2,848.

Ontario has seen 51,710 cases of COVID-19 with close to 85 per cent resolved.

There are 4,955 active cases of the virus.

The province completed close to 35,800 tests.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 150, up from 137 the previous day.

Of those, 35 of in intensive care and 17 of those are on ventilators.

Haldimand-Norfolk: 0 new cases, 4 active cases

Brant: 1 new case, 16 active cases

Niagara: 8 new cases, 91 active cases

Halton: 13 new cases, 181 active cases

Hamilton: 10 new cases, 103 active cases

Meanwhile, Ontario is reporting another 52 cases of COVID-19 in schools across the province.

This come as the province released new modelling numbers Wednesday.

The projection says Ontario could see daily counts of COVID-19 hit 1,000 new cases by the first half of October.

Officials say the modelling doesn’t take into account new rules introduced in recent days, such as closing strip clubs and limiting hours for bars and restaurants.
