Ontario is reporting 600 new COVID-19 cases Monday and six more deaths related to the virus.

The province said two of the deaths occurred more than a month ago but were reported today due to a data cleanup.

Monday’s case tally is based on more than 19,125 tests completed on the previous day.

The province says 29,182 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the last 24-hour period for a total of more than 21.1 million.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 84.4 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and nearly 78.1 per cent have two doses.

There are currently 189 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 116 on ventilators. However, Elliott says not all hospitals report on weekends.

The province says of those in hospital, 262 are unvaccinated individuals, 20 are partially vaccinated and 57 are fully vaccinated.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least eight are in an outbreak including The Wellington Nursing Home in Hamilton, R. H. Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
