Ontario reports 548 new COVID-19 cases, seven new deaths

Ontario is reporting 548 new cases of COVID-19 and seven new deaths.
Another 546 cases have been marked as resolved, while the death toll now sits at 2,987.
There are 5,469 active cases of the virus in Ontario.
Numbers released by the province Tuesday show a total of 42,031 tests were completed.
The backlog of tests still under investigation is down to 55,483.
Ontario has moved to appointment-only testing at COVID-19 assessment centres. The centres reopened Tuesday after being closed since Sunday.
Ontario is reporting 548 cases of #COVID19 as over 42,000 tests were completed. Locally, there are 201 new cases in Toronto, 90 in Peel, 62 in Ottawa and 56 in York Region. 61% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40. There are 546 more resolved cases.

There are 192 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. That’s an increase of 16 patients over the previous day.
The number of people in ICU dropped to 41, while those on ventilators is steady at 26.
Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:
Haldimand-Norfolk: 1 new case, 4 active cases
Brant: 3 new cases, 11 active cases
Niagara: 17 new cases, 140 active cases
Hamilton: 18 new cases, 121 active cases
Halton: 19 new cases, 168 active cases
Three regions in our area reported deaths related to COVID-19 on Monday.
There was one new death in Hamilton and Niagara and two new deaths in Halton.
Another 74 cases of the virus have been reported in schools. Of those, at least 41 are in students.
