Ontario is reporting 525 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday.

The province says there are five more deaths related to the virus, including three that occurred more than two months ago.

The data is based on 19,643 tests completed on the previous day.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says of the new cases, 434 are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 91 are in fully vaccinated individuals.

There are currently 158 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illness and 93 on ventilators.

Of those in hospital, 220 are unvaccinated individuals, 27 are partially vaccinated and 43 are fully vaccinated.

Elliott says a total of more than 20.7 million vaccine doses have been administered in the province. Nearly 83 per cent of Ontarians 12 and older have received at least one dose and 76.3 per cent have received both shots.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least eight are in an outbreak including Clarion Nursing Home in Stoney Creek and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
