Ontario reports 462 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday

Ontario is reporting 462 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday, including 14 more deaths.

The number of resolved cases jumped significantly to 1,023 from 831 on Thursday.

There are now 3,255 cases in the province, including 67 deaths.

The province broke down the cases by age bracket with 36 per cent of patients being between the ages of 40 and 59, 29 per cent between 20 and 39, 25 per cent between 60 and 79, nearly seven per cent are 80 and older, and two per cent are under the age of 19.

Ontario public health officials are expected to release data showing how many people could die of COVID-19 under various scenarios around 12 p.m. Friday.

Premier Doug Ford says the projections might be hard to hear and should serve as a wake-up call for some people.

Halton Region also announced Friday its number of cases rose to 100 from 82.

As of Thursday, Hamilton had 127 cases and Niagara had 81.
