Ontario is reporting 429 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and four new deaths related to the virus.

Of the new cases reported today, 301 cases are in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 128 are in fully vaccinated individuals.

The data is based on 25,441 tests completed on the previous day.

The province says 26,472 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the last 24-hour period for a total of more than 21.9 million.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says nearly 87 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and nearly 82 per cent have two doses.

Elliott says 277 people are currently in hospital due to COVID-19. She says of those in hospital, 236 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 41 are fully vaccinated.

There are currently 155 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 101 on ventilators.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least 17 are in an outbreak including Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, the Meadows of Dorchester in Niagara Falls, R. H. Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
