Ontario is reporting 383 new cases of COVID-19, an increase of 1.4 percent along with 34 new deaths.

This brings the total number of cases to 26,866 with nearly 77 percent of those cases resolved and the death toll to 2,189.

Ontario processed 17,615 tests in a 24-hour period yesterday, which is the highest number of completed tests in several days.

Despite representing less than 19 percent of total cases, residents in long-term care facilities account for nearly 63 percent of deaths.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to have a conference call with the premiers of Canada about the crisis in long-term care facilities brought to light by a devastating Canadian Armed Service report outlining allegations of abuse and neglect in four of the Ontario homes troops were deployed to.
