Ontario reports 313 new cases of COVID-19, one new death

Ontario is reporting 313 new cases of COVID-19, the highest number since early June.

The majority of the new cases reported Monday are from Toronto, Peel and Ottawa, according to Minister of Health Christine Elliott.

The province completed nearly 30,000 tests.

One more person has died of the virus bringing the number of COVID-19 deaths to 2,816.

Of the 44,817 cases of COVID-19, about 89 per cent are resolved.

The province has 2,027 active cases of COVID-19.

Across the province, hospitalizations sit at 47, though the province says a number of hospitals did not submit an update over the weekend.

There are 17 patients in ICU and eight on ventilators.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 1 new case, 21 active cases

Brant: 0 new cases, 3 active cases

Hamilton: 12 new cases, 86 active cases (**new cases since Friday as Hamilton does not report on weekends)

Niagara: 7 new cases, 31 active cases

Halton: 19 new cases, 60 active cases (**new cases since Friday as Halton does not report on weekends)
