Ontario reports 308 new cases of COVID-19 Monday

Ontario is reporting 308 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and 35 more deaths.

The latest numbers bring the provincial total to 20,546 cases of which, 15,131 have been resolved.

The total number of cases marks only a 1.5 per cent increase over Sunday’s numbers.

There are currently 1,027 people in hospital with COVID-19 including 194 patients in intensive care units (ICU). Of those in the ICU, 147 are on a ventilator to assist with breathing.

The total death toll has risen to 1,669 deaths.

Long-term care homes throughout the province continue to grapple with containing the spread of the virus. Six more outbreaks have been declared at facilities in Ontario.

The province says 447,964 COVID-19 tests have been completed since Jan. 15 with 13,970 being done in the last 24 hours. Just over 9,000 cases are still under investigation.

As of Sunday, Halton Region had 515 confirmed cases, Hamilton reported 488 cases and Niagara Region had a total of 558.
