Ontario reports 251 new COVID-19 cases, four new deaths

Ontario is reporting 251 new cases of COVID-19 and four new deaths.

Tuesday’s number is down from the 314 new cases reported the previous day.

Toronto, Ottawa and Peel continue to lead the province in new case numbers, according to Minister of Health Christine Elliott.

Ontario is reporting 251 cases of #COVID19 as nearly 28,000 tests were processed. Locally, 24 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases with 14 reporting no new cases. Toronto is reporting 73 new cases, with 51 in Ottawa and 42 in Peel.

There are 14 new cases of COVID-19 at schools across the province.

According to the provincial website, four are students and four are staff members.

There are another six cases where the individual has not been identified.

The province completed 27,664 tests.

Hospitalizations have remained steady at 47. Of those, 19 are in ICU and 11 of those are on a ventilator.

Provincial numbers show an additional 117 cases have been marked as resolved.

Over 40,000 of the 45,068 cases to date have been marked as resolved.

All four of the deaths reported Tuesday were in residents of long-term care homes.

The number of deaths now sits at 2,820.

The number of active cases in the province sits at 2,157.

Brant: 0 new cases, 3 active cases

Niagara: 1 new case, 25 active cases

Hamilton: 2 new cases, 40 active cases
