Ontario reports 2,139 new COVID-19 cases, 43 deaths

Ontario is reporting 2,139 new cases of COVID-19 and 43 deaths.

The additional deaths reported on Wednesday pushed the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 4,035. Of those deaths, about 62 per cent are in residents of long-term care.

An additional 2,043 cases of COVID-19 have been marked as resolved. Overall, 85.6 per cent of the province’s 146,535 known cases of the virus are resolved.

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 748 total cases, up 11 from Tuesday
  • 652 resolved cases
  • 58 active cases
  • 33 deaths

Brant

  • 681 total cases, up 7 from Tuesday
  • 581 resolved cases
  • 95 active cases
  • 5 deaths
  • 1 in hospital

Hamilton

  • 4,405 total cases, up 37 from Tuesday
  • 3,487 resolved cases
  • 752 active cases
  • 123 deaths (two new)
  • 51 in hospital

Niagara

  • 2,723 total cases, up 51 from Tuesday
  • 2,215 resolved cases
  • 416 active cases
  • 92 deaths (three new)
  • 42 in hospital

Halton

  • 4,703 total cases, up 91 from Tuesday
  • 4,219 resolved cases
  • 400 active cases
  • 84 deaths
  • 29 in hospital

There are 932 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, including 256 in the ICU. Of those in the ICU, 157 are on ventilators.
