Ontario reports 1,707 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,707 new cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths.

This comes as the province completed 34,640 tests with another 34,046 under investigation.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 2 new cases,43 active cases

Brant: 8 new cases, 70 active cases, 6 in hospital

Niagara: 20 new cases, 207 active cases, 9 in hospital

Halton: 52 new cases, 774 active cases, 19 in hospital

Hamilton: 108 new cases, 565 active cases, 6 deaths, 23 in hospital

 

According to the City of Hamilton, the deaths reported Tuesday are in people 70 and older who are living in facilities that have declared COVID-19 outbreaks.

Across the province the death toll is now 3,663 people, nearly two-thirds of those are residents of long-term care homes.

There are 645 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the province. There are 185 in intensive care, with 112 of those on ventilators.

Another 1,373 cases have been marked as resolved.

There were 299 cases of COVID-19 reported in the province’s schools.
