Ontario reports 159 new COVID-19 cases Friday, 10 more deaths

Ontario is reporting 159 new COVID-19 cases Friday as the province enters Step 3 of its reopening plan.

Officials say ten more people have died of COVID-19-related illnesses.

The data is based on more than 28,100 completed tests.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 34 new cases in Grey Bruce, 25 in the Region of Waterloo, 23 in Toronto, and 12 in Peel Region.

There are currently 158 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illness and 112 on ventilators.

Elliott says 168,616 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered Thursday for a total of more than 17.8 million.
