Ontario reports 1,553 COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths

Ontario reported 1,553 COVID-19 cases and 15 deaths on Thursday.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 58,560 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were performed, is 3.1 per cent.

Another 1,236 cases have been marked as resolved, while the province administered another 58,119 vaccine doses on Wednesday.

In total, Ontario has given 1,359,453 doses and there are 292,269 people in the province who are fully vaccinated.

  • 9,720 resolved cases
  • 285 active cases
  • 19 in hospital
  • 199 deaths
  • 281 total variant cases (includes confirmed cases and those who screened positive)

Niagara

  • 9,071 total cases — up 22 from Wednesday
  • 8,401 resolved cases
  • 297 active cases
  • 9 in hospital
  • 373 deaths
  • 13,808 vaccine doses given by Niagara Public Health

Brant

  • 1,652 total cases — up nine from Wednesday
  • 1,550 resolved cases
  • 90 active cases
  • 12 deaths
  • 2 in hospital
  • 30 total variant cases
  • 17,772 vaccine doses given; 2,566 people fully vaccinated

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,518 total cases — up two from Wednesday
  • 1,426 resolved cases
  • 48 active cases
  • 39 deaths
  • 14,398 vaccine doses given; 1,613 people fully vaccinated

There are 730 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the province, down from the 741 reported on Wednesday. There are 304 people in intensive care and 186 of them are on ventilators.
