Ontario is reporting more than 1,300 new cases of COVID-19 over the last two days.

The province says 668 cases were reported Friday and 647 were reported on Thursday.

The data is based on 74,715 tests completed over the two days.

The province says 20 more people have died as a result of the virus.

There have been 29,704 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine administered in the last 24-hour period and 37,553 doses given on Thursday.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says a total of more than 21.8 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Elliott says 86 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and 81 per cent have two doses.

Elliott says 278 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those in hospital, 250 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 28 are fully vaccinated.

There are currently 163 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 117 on ventilators.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least 19 are in an outbreak including Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, Pine Villa Nursing Home in Stoney Creek, St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas, the Meadows of Dorchester in Niagara Falls, R. H. Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
