Ontario reports 1,022 COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths

Ontario reports 1,022 cases of COVID-19 and 17 deaths on Tuesday, a day after the government laid out its plan to reopen.

The numbers come on 30,798 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date the tests were administered, is 3.3 per cent.

Another 1,388 cases have been marked as resolved.

Hamilton

  • 9,601 total cases — up 13 from Monday
  • 8,752 resolved cases
  • 442 active cases
  • 269 deaths — up one from Monday

Halton

  • 8,844 total cases — up 53 from Monday
  • 8,274 resolved cases
  • 393 active cases
  • 177 deaths — up three from Monday

Niagara

  • 8,227 total cases — up 13 from Monday
  • 7,297 resolved cases
  • 577 active cases
  • 353 deaths — up six from Monday

Brant

  • 1,382 total cases — up two from Monday
  • 1,343 resolved cases
  • 27 active cases
  • 12 deaths

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,372 total cases — up three from Monday
  • 1,279 resolved cases
  • 50 active cases
  • 38 deaths

Six Nations

  • 199 total cases — up two from Monday
  • 155 resolved cases
  • 42 active cases
  • 2 deaths

There are 227 confirmed cases of the U.K. variant of the virus and three confirmed cases of the South African variant.

The province says 12,462 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on Monday. As of 8 p.m. Monday, a total of 398,633 doses have been given.

There are 115,529 people in Ontario who have received both doses and are fully vaccinated.

There are 909 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario. There are 318 people in ICU with 223 of them on ventilators.
