Ontario ramping down elective surgeries to preserve hospital beds for COVID-19 patients.

Ontario’s Minister of Health, Christine Elliott is trying to increase the number of hospital beds.

Elliott tweeted,

“We’re asking hospitals to further implement pandemic plans by carefully ramping down elective surgeries. Doing so will help preserve the capacity to respond to COVID-19.”

Elective surgery is one that is scheduled in advance because it does not involve a medical emergency.
