Ontario PCs proposing Local Food Act changes

Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives are proposing the Local Food Act be changed so that there’d be a tax credit for farmers who donate produce to food banks. Both welcome the idea.

Each year, farmers dispose of or plough back into their fields, over 25-million pounds of food not chose for sale by grocers because of cosmetic reasons such as size, shape or colour.
