Doug Ford announced Thursday that Brantford will be home to a $102 million new electric vehicle plant by Mitsui High-tec.

Ontario itself is set to invest over $3 million in the expansion of the plant that is set to introduce 104 jobs for the Brantford community.

This isn’t the first expansion for Mitsui High-tec since it came to Canada in 2017. The Brantford 103,500 square-foot plant marks the third expansion thus far.

Ford called the investment an, “exciting new investment will create more good-paying jobs and help ensure that the cars of the future are built in Ontario by Ontario workers.”

The investment made by the Ontario government is being made as a part of Driving Prosperity, a 10-year plan to have vehicle manufacturing within the province be centred on building the electric vehicles of the future.
