Ontario interested to move forward with 2030 Commonwealth Games bid

The Ontario government says it’s interested in participating in the 2030 Commonwealth Games bid process after it gets more information.
The government says it has expressed interest in taking part in the Dialog and Feasibility Phase for the Games bid process.
They say the Ministry of Sport received interest from multiple municipalities including Hamilton regarding hosting opportunities.
“While Ontario supports exploring a potential bid further, far more information is needed before a formal government commitment is considered,” according to an email from the ministry.
The group behind the push to have Hamilton host the 2030 Games posted on LinkedIn Tuesday that Ontario joined Manitoba, P.E.I. and Newfoundland in submitting interest by the March 31 deadline.
The post reads that the City of Burlington was among the cities that expressed interest in hosting the Games.
According to the post, the cities within the province that expressed interest will now allow provinces to collaborate with them to explore sports and venues that might be suitable for inclusion in a Games bid.
Hamilton hosted the first Commonwealth Games back in 1930.
