Ontario Fire Marshal investigating fatal fire at Niagara Falls motel

The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal fire at a motel in Niagara Falls Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the Courtside Inn on Stanley Ave., near Emery St., around 9:15 a.m. for reports of a fire.

“The fire was primarily found to be coming from a single room in the motel,” said a police news release.

A person was found dead inside the room.

People staying at the motel told CHCH News the victim was a man. They say the fire alarms were working and everyone else got out of the building safely.

Police say the cause of the fire and death are under investigation.
