Ontario is expanding eligibility for fourth doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to include all adults.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore said anyone aged 18 and older will be able to book a fourth shot starting Thursday.

Adults can receive their second booster dose five months after receiving their first booster shot.

The Ontario government had recently been under pressure to expand eligibility for fourth doses beyond people aged 60 and older, immunocompromised individuals and Indigenous adults. Those select groups have been eligible for second boosters since April 7.

The province is currently experiencing a summer wave of virus infections driven by the BA.5 Omicron subvariant.

Starting tomorrow at 8 a.m., eligible individuals can book an appointment through the COVID-19 vaccination portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900.
