Ontario DriveTest Centres to resume G class road tests

Ontario’s DriveTest centres will resume road tests for G class drivers next week.

These centres have been slowing resuming services since being shut down in March because of COVID-19.

Starting Sept. 8, drivers will be able to book class G road tests and will have access to all regular services.

First come, first served:

  • Class G1 and M1 knowledge tests
  • Driver’s licence exchanges and upgrades

By Appointment only:

  • Class G2 and class G road tests
  • Class M2 and class M motorcycle road tests; and,
  • Commercial driver road tests for all classes of commercial driver’s licences.

People are required to wear face coverings inside centres and during road tests.

Exceptions will be made for those taking motorcycle road tests and for people with a medical condition or a disability.

People taking road tests must complete screening questions and a temperature check.

Driver examiners will be equipped with face shields, sanitizer packages and seat covers.

The province has temporarily extended the validity of all driver’s licences.

Anyone who is able to wait to visit a DriveTest centre is asked to do so to reduce crowding.
