Ont. Tories on offensive

With the 2014 Ontario Liberals’ budget on the table this Thursday, the Progressive Conservative Party was on the offensive at Queen’s Park this morning.

PC leader Tim Hudak says the economy still hasn’t regained the strength of 2008, has fewer jobs and there are more unemployed
people.

“Do you agree or disagree with minister of finance officials that we’re still behind where we were as recently as 2008?” said Hudak.

Deputy premier Deb Matthews fired back, saying, “With respect, the leader of the opposition doesn’t have a plan. What he has is a soundbite and anyone who has looked at the plan very quickly discovered that it is no plan at all. It is a soundbite and only a soundbite.”

The 2014 budget needs to get the approval of at least one of the opposition parties. If not, an election will have to be called.
