Police say it may take a couple days to identify the two people who died in a fiery crash on Hamilton’s Eastport drive early Tuesday morning. Their bodies are so badly burnt police say they can’t identify their gender or age and that they will be looking for dental records to help id them.

All that is known is that the car they were in was an older Lexas sedan. It was speeding Toronto bound on Eastport drive, just underneath the Burlington Skyway when it crashed at around 5:30am.

“The vehicle lost control, crossed into the on-coming lanes, smashed into the guard rail, rode the guard rail for some distance around the bend, actually mounted the guard rail, came onto the other side , where there are some rocks, and then flew up to the concrete abutment which is one of the support pillars for the overpass.” Kerry Schmidt, OPP.

Police believe the car was travelling at about 150 kilometres an hour, that’s three times the posted limit. The Lexus was loaded onto an OPP truck, with the bodies still inside and sent to the centre for forensic science in Toronto. They hope to know their identities within a couple of days.
